Elliptical Exercise Equipment for Cross Training

Elliptical exercise equipment is a category of cardiovascular exercise machines that is growing faster than any other type. Most gyms are stocking these up like crazy for their members to use in their workouts. I don't remember seeing elliptical trainers 10 years ago, and my gym only recently got some. But other gyms I've visited had a whole room of them. They are very popular and offer a great workout.

They're sometimes called elliptical cross trainers, probably because they work out just about every muscle group, unlike exercise bikes or rowers. But they aren't just high-priced gym equipment. There are now a lot of home models of elliptical exercise equipment that don't take up a lot of space, plus are a lot cheaper than the gym models. I've seen them at Sears as well as regular sports equipment stores. I even saw one on sale for $200 recently. That's a lot cheaper than you'll find a treadmill.

Elliptical Exercise Equipment for Older People

I've been noticing a lot lately at my gym that a lot of older people really like the new elliptical exercise equipment. I think it's because when you work out on one of these, it is a lot easier on your joints, especially the knees and back. A lot of older people have arthritis and join pain, so that would make a lot of sense. And for some reason, when you're on an elliptical, it doesn't even feel like you're exerting as much energy.

I find myself looking forward to my workouts now, where I used to dread getting on the treadmill or Stairmaster. I almost had to force myself to do it. Now I go and do my weight lifting routine, then I go jump on one of the ellipticals without any coaxing or prodding at all! These are definitely some of the best cardio workout machines they've ever come up with.

Precor Elliptical Exercise Equipment

I've been checking around at the sports stores for ellipticals and have found Precor elliptical exercise equipment to be a brand that everyone seems to have. I'm also seeing a lot of Cybex and Proform machines. They definitely cost a lot less than treadmills and some of the other cardio machines. Exercise bikes are cheap, but I've always found them really boring for workouts. I like to get up and move my whole body. That seems to burn more calories, too.

I've been really surprised at how much less space elliptical exercise equipment takes up than treadmills. I'm sure I could fit one of these into my family room without a lot of trouble. With one of these and my other exercise equipment, I could even save myself the monthly gym fees that I pay.

Home Elliptical Exercise Equipment

I am enjoying my workouts so much that I'm thinking about getting some home elliptical exercise equipment. I already have a Blowflex and a rack of dumbbells that I like to use when I can't get to the gym. So it would be great to have a home cardio machine as well. It rains a lot here in the winter, so it is much more pleasant just to do my workout routine at home and not have to get in the car and drive to the gym.

I have an extra bedroom that I use as my workout center. But my Bowflex pretty much takes up all the room. So I'll have to see if I can make some space in the family room for some elliptical exercise equipment. I know there are models that are fairly small. I could even set it up so I can watch the news while I work out!

Benefits of Elliptical Exercise Equipment

One of the great benefits of elliptical exercise equipment is that you get a very low-impact workout. Your movement on an elliptical is very natural to the way your body moves. I tend to have back problems, so sometimes a treadmill can cause too much pounding on my lower back, especially if I'm running and not just walking. I know other people who have knee problems who prefer elliptical trainers to other machines.

Elliptical exercise equipment is very smooth and easy on the back and joints. Some people have described it as a cross between a treadmill and a stair stepper. You are walking up and down. It almost feels like you are walking on clouds! If you want a great workout that doesn't hurt, try one.

New Elliptical Exercise Equipment

Even though my gym just bought new elliptical exercise equipment for the very first time, I'm told that they are becoming as popular as treadmills, both in most gyms and for home use. If you want to get an elliptical for your home, there are many models available, some as low as $200. I recently saw some in Sears. But most sports stores seem to have them as well.

If you're going to buy one, you should first get on it and see how it feels to you. I've noticed from the different models in my gym that different machines have a different feel to them. You might prefer one model over another. It's better to buy an exercise machine that you enjoy using or you probably won't use it as much.

Elliptical Exercise Equipment

Welcome to my new blog! I decided to create a blog about elliptical exercise equipment because my gym recently purchased a bunch of them. Until these new machines came in, I had mostly used the Stairmaster and treadmill for the cardio portion of my workout. I always thought the stair climbers were the best machines to burn off a lot of calories. So I was really surprised at the great workout I got on one of these new ellipticals.

Elliptical exercise equipment definitely has a different feel than other types of cardio machines. But I've found them to be more comfortable and natural to how my body moves. These new exercise machines are going to completely change how I do my workouts.
